Ontario government's cap and trade in effect Jan. 1
January 11, 2017Under new legislation, Utilities Kingston must buy emission allowances for the natural gas used by residential and business customers, as applicable. Those costs will then be included on your natural gas bill.

Blocked Sewer Line? Stay Safe, Call Before You Clear
February 19, 2016Natural gas lines can sometimes intersect with sewer lines. When this happens it is known as a sewer cross bore. When left undisturbed, sewer cross bores do not present a safety risk. If you have a blocked sewer line beyond the outside wall of your building, your attempt to clear it could damage the gas line, causing natural gas to leak into your home or building.

Widespread Power Outage in Effect

Planned Power Outages to Rebuild Princess Street Transformer Vault
October 19, 2015Utilities Kingston is rebuilding an underground transformer vault on Princess Street, between Smith and Victoria streets, on behalf of Kingston Hydro. A number of power outages are planned to enable crews to complete this work – but customers are being cautioned that emergency outages will also be required.
