Consumer Alert: Aggressive Door-to-Door Tactics

Consumer Alert: Aggressive Door-to-Door Tactics

Customers have alerted us that an individual is going door-to-door and using aggressive tactics in an attempt to gain access to water heaters.

Additionally, we have received several inquiries about municipal drinking water from residents who report being approached by a door-to-door sales company questioning the quality of Kingston's water supply. The company is reported to be selling home water filtration systems.

Safe, Reliable Water Heaters

Our technicians are not going door-to-door to repair water heater rentals. We’d like to reassure customers that Utilities Kingston follows all safety regulations.

The individuals going door-to-door are reportedly using aggression in attempt to gain access to the home. Remember, you have the right to ask people to leave your property. If they don’t, then contact police.

Safe, Quality Drinking Water

We assure our customers they can be confident in the municipal water system.

There are a series of filtration, treatment, monitoring and backup systems in place to continually supply high quality drinking water to every home and business within the urban area of Kingston. Yearly drinking water quality reports detail how the systems operate. The latest drinking water quality reports were issued by Utilities Kingston on February 15 and are available at our page on water quality reports and at City Hall, 216 Ontario St.

The reports are prepared in response to Ontario Regulation 170 of the Safe Water Drinking Act. Ontario has strict water quality standards; Kingston continually meets and exceeds these standards.

The purchase of a home water filtration system, while not necessary for a safe supply of drinking water, remains the choice of the homeowner.
