2023
Utilities Kingston was honoured as the Gold Winner for the OHS Team of the Year at the OHS Canada Honours. The Team of the Year is presented to a group of health and safety professionals who demonstrate tangible evidence of health and safety achievements in the pursuit of excellence. Congratulations to the health & safety team, and everyone at Utilities Kingston!
Utilities Kingston was the recipient of the 2023 Worker Safety Award at the Electrical Safety Authority (SA)’s Annual Meeting and Ontario Electrical Safety Awards for recognition of the annual two-day Safety Days. Hosted yearly, our events are dedicated to educating employees and contractors working for the City of Kingston on underground and overhead utility infrastructure.
2021
Congratulations to all employees of the gas operations group, for receiving the Canadian Gas Association 2021 Michael Mulcahy Award for Excellence and Innovation in Customer Care and Service. The award recognizes significant achievement by members of the natural gas delivery industry in innovation and service to natural gas users and customers.
2019
The Canadian Gas Association (CGA) recognized Utilities Kingston with a Public Safety Leadership Award at its annual conference in Ottawa.
For the second time, the Canadian Electricity Association (CEA) has recognized Utilities Kingston as a Centre of Excellence in 2019, this time for our outage management system, for service excellence.
We are a proud supporter of the United Way of Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington (KFL&A). The success of our campaign is due to the efforts of our employees, who lead the fundraising. Richard (Chico) Rodrigue participated in our workplace campaign for over 30 years. His enthusiasm and creativity has inspired employees to donate and benefit our local community.
The United Way KFL&A honoured Chico's service at the Ontario Service Awards special ceremony. Congratulations, Chico, on this outstanding honour and thank you for all you do for our community.
2018
In 2018, the Electricity Distributors Association (EDA) Chair's Citation was presented to Jim Keech, our president and CEO.
Also in 2018, the Greater Kingston Chamber of Commerce Municipal Employee of the Year Recognition Award was presented to Jim Keech, our president and CEO.
Utilities Kingston received an annual Technical Standards & Safety Authority (TSSA) Safety Award for 2018.
The Canadian Electricity Association (CEA) recognized Utilities Kingston as a Centre of Excellence in 2018 for a novel approach to transfer trip communications.

2017
The Cataraqui Conservation Foundation 2017 Corporate Conservation Award was awarded to Utilities Kingston for providing sewer overflow information on a real-time map to help residents make a better-informed decision about recreational water use.
In 2017, our entry in the Santa Claus Parade took home an award for Best Commercial Float.

The 2017 Ontario Regional Common Ground Alliance (ORCGA) ‘Member of the Year’ award was presented by Canadian figure skater Josée Chouinard (right) to Utilities Kingston’s manager of service and gas operations, Karen Santucci (left).
The award goes to a member whose dedication and service to the ORCGA went above and beyond the call of duty during a given year.
2016
Utilities Kingston's conservation team was pleased to accept the LDC Champion Award from the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO). The award recognizes Utilities Kingston's conservation and demand management achievements through the 2011-2014 Save on Energy programs.

2015
Supporting the United Way and having FUN at the CFB Kingston's Commando Challenge.
In 2015, we held a plant sale to support our corporate fundraising efforts.

2014
The Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) presented its Worker Safety Award to the City of Kingston and Utilities Kingston in recognition of the organizations’ leadership in improving and promoting safety, both in the community and the workplace.
Utilities Kingston accepted the Electricity Distributors Association’s inaugural Conservation Leadership Excellence Award on behalf of Kingston Hydro.
The award, sponsored by the Ontario Power Authority, recognizes that Utilities Kingston and its customers are provincial leaders in energy and water conservation.

2013
In 2013, Utilities Kingston was presented with the Ontario Water Works Association award for Excellence in Water Efficiency Programming.

2012 and previous
In 2012, Kingston Hydro and Utilities Kingston CEO Jim Keech accepted the “Community Leadership Award”. Utilities Kingston was recognized for the way its staff assists those in the community seeking to make sustainable energy investments, and for the investments in solar, bio-energy, and conservation made by the utility itself.
In 2010, 2011 and 2012, employees achieved the bronze award (employee campaigns with a minimum of 50 per cent participation and $50 per capita).
