Water service restored after water main break on Sydenham Road

Water service restored after water main break on Sydenham Road

Crews responded to a water main break on Sydenham Road (north of the 401). The work was impacting water services in the area, and we apologize for the inconvenience.

Providing a safe, reliable source of drinking water for our customers is important to us. When a water main breaks, it can be disruptive to local traffic, pedestrians, and our water customers, who count on a reliable supply of tap water. Our water main breaks web page explains why breaks happen, how our crews respond, what proactive steps we take to prevent them, and what you can do to reduce the impact of these service disruptions.

Water service was restored overnight, and a flushing process took place for approximately two to four hours. Flushing, as with other activities on the water distribution system, can disturb deposits that normally occur in water pipes. If you experience discoloured tap water or air in the pipes, the water is still safe.

With the water service restored, please follow these steps:

  • Locate the cold water tap that is closest to your water meter.
  • Run the cold water until it is clear. This may take 5 to 25 minutes.
  • If the water does not clear, please contact Utilities Kingston by calling 613-546-1181.

Thank you for your patience, as we work to restore water services as quickly as possible.
