Celebrating 55 Years of Earth Day: Our Power, Our Planet

For 55 years, Earth Day has been a powerful force in raising awareness and driving action on the critically important environmental challenges facing our planet.

On April 22, 2025, Earth Day marks its 55th anniversary, with participation from 192 countries and more than one billion people worldwide. This incredible global movement continues to unite people across cultures, generations, and industries—just as it did in 1970—with a shared commitment to building a better, more sustainable future.

As we approach this meaningful milestone, we can take pride in knowing that many of the solutions needed to create a cleaner and more green world are already within reach. From renewable energy and water conservation to sustainable infrastructure and responsible consumption, progress is possible when we work together.

Companies impact the environment in many ways—through operations, supply chains, and the way their products and services are delivered and used. Utility providers, in particular, play a vital role in this ecosystem. Whether it’s through managing energy use, treating source water, managing wastewater, or reducing emissions, our work is directly tied to the health of our natural resources.

We understand the importance of environmental responsibility in everything we do. We are committed to protecting our shared environment while delivering multiple utility services. This includes ongoing efforts to:

  • Support the transition to clean, renewable energy sources

  • Improve energy efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions

  • Ensure water quality and safeguard local water sources

  • Promote wastewater treatment best practices

  • Align with Ontario legislation on water quantity and quality, energy conservation, and environmental protection

These initiatives are just some of the ways we demonstrate our commitment to sustainability, today and for generations to come.

Taking Action Together

This Earth Day, let’s renew our commitment to the planet. Let’s support clean energy, protect our water, and adopt sustainable practices in our homes, communities, and workplaces. Every small step contributes to a larger wave of change.

Together, our power can protect our planet.
