#TenThousandThanks for 10,000 Rain Barrels Sold

Thanks to customer support and interest, and the efforts of many employees, we have reached an exciting milestone - 10,000 rain barrels delivered, since 2006. The popular rain barrel program has been in effect since 2006 and has helped conserve an estimated 20,000 m3 of treated water – enough to supply more than 100 homes.

Mayor Bryan Paterson joined our president & CEO, Jim Keech, and manager of customer service and conservation, Stephen Sottile on Tuesday, July 19 as they delivered the 10,000th rain barrel to the Peltsch-Williams residence. They also gave them a beautiful, water-wise planter, featuring native, drought-tolerant plants, selected from the award-winning Utilities Kingston Water Conservation Garden.

We invite you to celebrate along with us by tweeting photos of your rain barrels in use to @utilitieskingston using the hashtag #TenThousandThanks.

By capturing and storing rain water, rain barrels are a great way for residents to practice water wise gardening, especially during dryer conditions. Customers can order a rain barrel by calling 613-546-0000. The charge will appear on your Utilities Kingston bill. The $44 price includes HST and delivery of the rain barrel to your doorstep.
