Remembering Dr. Bill Leggett

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Dr. William (Bill) Leggett, a long-standing and highly respected member of the Utilities Kingston Board of Directors. His loss is felt profoundly across our organization and throughout the Kingston community.

Dr. Leggett joined the Utilities Kingston Board in 2012, bringing with him an extraordinary record of leadership, scholarship, and public service. Over his 14 years of dedicated service, he chaired both the Audit and Risk Management Committee and the Governance, Nominations and Compensation Committee. His professionalism, positive spirit, sound judgment, and unwavering support were instrumental to Utilities Kingston, and his presence will be deeply missed.

“Bill leaves behind a legacy grounded in compassion, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to community. He shared his wisdom and humour generously, touching the lives of many and helping to shape the direction of Utilities Kingston. His lasting influence will continue to guide our organization, and he will be remembered with deep gratitude and respect by all who had the privilege of knowing him,” said Nancy Taylor, Chair of the Utilities Kingston Board of Directors.

Beyond his many contributions to Utilities Kingston and his distinguished academic career, Dr. Leggett was deeply committed to the Kingston community, generously lending his time and expertise to organizations such as the Success By Six Council of Partners, KFL&A United Way, and the City of Kingston’s Airport Advisory Committee.

Dr. Leggett built strong relationships across the organization and earned the respect of fellow board members, leadership, employees, and community partners alike. We are profoundly grateful for his service and the lasting legacy he leaves behind.

Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with Dr. Leggett’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.
