Why is this outage happening?

To ensure the continued reliability of your electricity service, our crews will install new overhead electrical distribution lines and equipment on behalf of your electricity distributor, Kingston Hydro Corporation. For the safety of our utility crews, the equipment must be de-energized while we complete this important work.

How can you prepare for the outage?

Here are some tips to help you and your family stay safe and comfortable during the outage:

  • Appliances: Make sure your appliances, especially stoves, are turned off.
  • Phones and batteries: Ensure your cellphone and battery packs are fully charged.
  • Food storage: Keep refrigerator and freezer doors closed as much as possible. Consider using a cooler with ice for essential items.
  • Backup power: Plan ahead for critical building systems like sump pumps. A backup power source can be invaluable.
  • Generator safety: If you use a generator, operate it outdoors in a dry area away from windows, doors, and vents. Never use a propane barbecue, camp stove, or portable generator indoors due to the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.
  • Medical equipment: If you depend on electrically powered medical equipment, ensure you have a backup phone, an uninterruptible power supply (UPS), or a backup generator. You might also want to arrange alternative accommodations with family or friends.

We understand that this outage may cause some inconvenience, and we appreciate your patience as we work to maintain a safe and reliable electricity supply.
