Natural gas rates change on Nov. 1, plus help for the heating season

Utilities Kingston has reviewed the rates for the natural gas commodity and transportation and storage, effective November 1, 2021:

  • The commodity price for natural gas will increase by $0.0158 $/m3 to $0.1521 $/m3, and
  • The transportation & storage price for natural gas will increase by $0.0096 $/m3 to $0.0608 $/m3.

The overall effect of the price changes will increase a typical residential bill (2300m3 annually) by an estimated $58.42 annually. The increases to the commodity, transportation and storage prices are related to the resurgence of the economy, which increased energy demand. These are pass-through charges and Utilities Kingston does not profit from these price increases.

The next quarterly review of these rate components will be for February 1, 2022 implementation.
