Kingston Blooms Environmental Awareness Award

Kingston Blooms Environmental Awareness Award

The Kingston Blooms awards were given out to the city’s best gardeners last night at the Cataraqui Golf and Country Club. We were pleased to present the Kingston Blooms Environmental Awareness Award to Sylvia Moreau for her beautiful, water wise garden. Congratulations and thank you for your dedication to water conservation.

This award is presented for a garden that benefits from:

  • Use of drought tolerant plants
  • Planting that is beneficial to wildlife
  • Sustainable planting
  • Non‐use of pesticides
  • Evidence of soil amendment
  • Compost or yard waste
  • Trees planted for shade
  • Effective erosion control

You too can learn how to save water, time and money by building a water wise garden that ‘makes every rain drop count’ to greatly reduce or even eliminate the need for watering. Visit the Utilities Kingston Water Conservation Garden at 1211 John Counter Boulevard during daylight hours to see more than 100 types of plants that require less water, described with educational signage.
