A power outage is affecting electricity customers in Central Kingston, caused by the loss of supply from the provincial transmission system. Hydro One is aware of the issue and will restore power as quickly as possible.
Due to the wide-spread nature of this outage, our outage map and phone lines are overwhelmed and we thank you for your patience. In the event of a serious emergency, such as a downned powerline or suspected gas leak, call 9-1-1 immediately.
Powerline safety and outage precautions
Review our power outage precautions. For example:
- Locate a phone that does not require electricity, as well as a flashlight and batteries.
- Consider an alternate source of power for your sump pump and any medical equipment.
- Never use a propane barbeque, camp stove or portable standby generator indoors.
- Plan to turn off all appliances that will turn on automatically when power is restored.
