Is that email really from us? Here’s how to tell!
We want you to feel confident every time you receive a bill from us. But how can you tell if an email is really from us or a sneaky scammer?
In today’s world, staying vigilant is more important than ever. Scammers are always updating their tactics, but by spotting the warning signs, you can safeguard yourself and your personal data.
Here are some quick, easy tips to keep your inbox safe and your personal info protected:
- Make sure the subject matches the content – If the subject line feels off, too urgent, or doesn’t quite match what’s in the email, it could be a scam. Our billing emails keep it straightforward with subject lines like, “Your Utilities Kingston bill is ready."
- Keep an eye on spelling – While we try our best to be typo-free, obvious spelling mistakes are a sign something’s off (and it’s probably not from us).
- Look at the sender’s email address – Our billing emails come from No-Reply@UtilitiesKingston.com. If it looks phishy, it probably is.
- Double-check your details – If the email contains incorrect account numbers or greets you with generic terms like “user,” it’s a red flag.
- Hover before you click – Make sure links direct you to our official site. Hover over the link and ensure it leads to My.UtilitiesKingston.com/App.
If you’re unsure about an email, don’t click any links! Instead, go directly to our website by typing the address into your browser or call us at 613-546-1181 to verify.
