Event highlights

Climate Expo Showcase – Oct. 5

Meet staff, local businesses, and organizations to learn more about ongoing climate projects and green initiatives in our community. We have child-friendly activities planned at the showcase, so bring the whole family!

  •        Learn about various climate initiatives and efforts toward sustainability.
  •        Join a panel discussion on the journey of local food, exploring topics such as sustainable practices and innovative solutions in food production.
  •        Enjoy a fun and educational session for families presented by the Kingston Frontenac Public Library.
  •        Participate in a tour of a low-carbon building to see sustainability in action.

Test drive an Electric Vehicle! Plug‘n Drive will be hosting their Mobile Electric Vehicle Education Trailer (MEET) at the INVISTA Centre from Oct. 3 - 20. Join an interactive showcase of educational information and hands-on test drives of some of the latest EV models available on the consumer market.

Oct 4: Green Horizons - Low Carbon Solutions

Caro Casista, Conservation Coordinator, and Tom Brackenbury, Utilities Engineer, will join industry experts to present at this session tailored for businesses, developers, and property owners. The discussion will explore funding opportunities for decarbonization projects, with Caro and Tom providing valuable insights into energy conservation and sustainable project development.

Panel discussion: Creating a Pathway to Decarbonization

Caro will also sit in with a panel of energy experts following the presentation for a discussion about low-carbon solutions and pathways to decarbonization within our community.

Oct 5: Climate Showcase

Stop by the showcase and say hi! Our team will join City staff and local businesses on-site from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Bring the whole family and learn more about ongoing climate projects and green initiatives in our community. Throughout the day, you can also participate in various events, including a panel discussion on local food circularity, Eco Storytime with Kingston Frontenac Public Library, and a tour of a low-carbon building at 945 Princess St.

Oct. 10 - Women in STEM Panel

Heather Roberts, Director of Water and Wastewater Services, will moderate this empowering panel discussion focused on supporting women in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) careers. Heather will guide the conversation as panelists share their experiences and strategies for fostering inclusive work environments and advancing gender diversity in the STEM fields.
