Watermain Break - Update

Watermain Break - Update

(February 7, 2013 at 2:37 PM) The water was turned back on at noon and water mains were flushed until 1:30 to ensure the water runs clear and meets quality standards. Crews are now checking the chlorine levels. Discoloured water may still be present in individual service lines – customers should run a cold water tap until it clears. Please note, traffic flow is still reduced as the land is being backfilled.

Utilities Kingston crews are now on the scene of a watermain break off King Street West. The break has affected water service, and will leave homes in the areas without water until about 11:00 AM.

Most affected are:

  • Alwington Place
  • The area between Alwington Ave. and Livingston Ave.

Surrounding areas may experience low water pressure. Additionally, the west-bound King Street traffic lane is closed. Please yield to coming east-bound traffic.

Customers in these areas are advised to arrange to have clean drinking water on hand. When the water comes back on it may be discoloured. If this is the case, customers are advised to flush their pipes by turning on the cold water tap in their laundry or bath tub. They should let the water run until it is clear.

Utilities Kingston apologizes for any inconvenience and is striving to restore this service as quickly as possible.

Customers can call the customer service line with questions or concerns at 613-546-0000.
