Water and wastewater rates are changing effective January 1, 2014.

The 2014 rate adjustments are part of a four year plan that was proposed for Council’s consideration and which received approval in 2011.

The decision to set and adjust water and wastewater rates is considered carefully within the context of regulation, public policy direction and investment, price, and reliability. The cost of delivering water to your homes or your businesses and the cost of collecting wastewater from your homes or your businesses includes investment needed to maintain, renew, replace, and modernize the municipal water distribution and wastewater collection systems.

Effective January 1, 2014,

• Water rates will increase by 9.5% and
• Wastewater rates will increase by 5%.

The combined water/wastewater monthly bill impact for a typical residential customer with consumption of 20 m3 water and treatment of wastewater is a combined increase of 7.1% or $5.95 per month.
