Utilities Kingston issues latest water quality reports

Utilities Kingston has released the 2008 annual reports on drinking water quality. "Utilities Kingston is pleased to present the 2008 water quality reports to the community," said Kevin Riley, water treatment manager. The reports are prepared in response to Ontario Regulation 170 of the Safe Water Drinking Act. "Ontario has one the strictest set of standards," added Riley. "Kingston continually meets and exceeds these standards." The drinking water system reports detail how the systems operate. There are a series of filtration, treatment, monitoring and backup systems in place to continually supply high quality drinking water to every home and business within the urban area of Kingston. The 2008 reports show test results at the Kingston Central Plant that serves most areas east of Little Cataraqui Creek, the Kingston West Water Treatment Facility serving areas west of Little Cataraqui Creek, and the Cana Well System serving residents on Marian Crescent, Rochdale Crescent and Cana Blvd. Copies of the reports are available from Utilities Kingston at City Hall at 216 Ontario St. and are also available at Water Reports.
