Utilities Kingston has released the 2009 annual reports on drinking water quality.
"Utilities Kingston is pleased to present the 2009 water quality reports to the community," said Kevin Riley, water treatment manager.
The reports are prepared in response to Ontario Regulation 170 of the Safe Water Drinking Act.
"Ontario has one the strictest set of standards," added Riley. "Kingston continually meets and exceeds these standards."
The drinking water system reports detail how the systems operate. There are a series of filtration, treatment, monitoring and backup systems in place to continually supply high quality drinking water to every home and business within the urban area of Kingston.
The 2009 reports show test results for the King St. Water Treatment Plant and Point Pleasant Water Treatment Plant (serving central and west Kingston, respectively), and the Cana Water Treatment System (serving part of the Kingston East community).
