POSTPONED: Planned power outages set for University District and Alwington area

To help relieve some hardship for our customers during this uncertain and difficult time, Utilities Kingston is postponing any non-essential planned power outages. This includes the wide area outage planned for tree trimming in the University District and Alwington area on March 22.

Utilities Kingston electricity customers in the University District and Alwington areas listed below will be affected by a planned power outage on Sunday, March 22.

Customers in these areas will experience a six-hour outage starting at 9 a.m.:

  • Union Street, between Hillcroft Drive and Frontenac Street
  • Vandalay Crescent
  • Kensington Avenue
  • Centre Street
  • Edgehill Street
  • Collingwood Street, between Earl Street and King Street West
  • Couper Street
  • Queen’s Crescent
  • Bader Lane
  • Stuart Street
  • St. Lawrence Avenue
  • Albert Street, between Earl Street and King Street West
  • Frontenac Street, between Johnson Street and Union Street
  • Earl Street, between Albert Street and Alfred Street

Customers on Beverley Street will experience two separate 30-minute outages, the first at 9 a.m. and the second at 3 p.m.

This power outage is necessary for workers to conduct tree trimming around the high voltage overhead lines in the area, on behalf of the electricity distributor, Kingston Hydro Corporation.
