Planned Water Shut Down in Williamsville Overnight on May 22-23

Planned Water Shut Down in Williamsville Overnight on May 22-23

Beginning on Thursday, May 22 at 9:30 p.m., homes and businesses on parts of Princess, Drayton and Concession Streets will experience an overnight water shut down. This service disruption is necessary to replace water main as part of the Williamsville reconstruction project. We are making every effort to reduce the impact of this service disruption on our customers.

The shut down is expected to continue to 7 a.m. on May 23. During this time, customers in the following areas will not have running water:

  • 826, 840 and 842 Princess Street
  • Princess Street (Drayton Street to Concession Street), NOT including  811, 890, 900, 904, 914 and 920 Princess Street
  • Drayton Street (all)
  • Concession Street (Princess Street to Leroy Grant Drive), including 234 Concession Street (Cornell Building)

In case the work can’t be completed on the scheduled day due to poor weather, a rain date has been set as May 23, starting at 9:30 p.m. and ending 7 a.m. on May 24.

In order to reduce the impact on water customers, crews are taking steps to minimize the outage area and conducting the work overnight. To help reduce noise, most of the excavating will take place in advance of the shut down. Once water services are restored, customers may notice discolouration or air in the tap water. The water is still safe. We suggest customers run their cold water tap until the water clears (this may take 5-25 minutes).
