Utilities Kingston is advising residents that a planned burn-off of natural gas is taking place at the corner of Concession Street and Leroy Grant Drive starting at approximately 10 a.m. today.

In order for certified technicians to repair the gas main they will conduct a controlled purge/burn off of natural gas in a small section of the isolated gas main. There is no need for the public to be alarmed during this procedures as all safety precautions will be taken. Utilities Kingston asks the public to stay away from the barricaded area.

The flare from the burn could measure between 4 and 5 metres and will take place during daytime hours. The burn will empty gas in the small section of line that will be replaced.
