New Gas Meters To Be Installed

Utilities Kingston will be visiting homes to change gas meters. If you were not at home at the time of the visit you will have received a letter asking that you contact the Customer Service Centre at 546-000 to arrange a convenient time to have your gas meter changed. Letter left by Utilities Kingston service staff reads: We would appreciate if you could contact us to arrange for this to be done - access to your premises is required to perform relights on your gas appliances as a result of the interruption of gas supply caused by the meter exchange. If arrangements are not made within five business days, we will proceed to exchange the meter and leave your gas supply turned off, so any appliances that use gas will not operate. Please contact us at your earliest convenience to arrange to have our service technicians relight your appliances. We will also conduct a visual safety inspection of your gas appliances at the time of relight. Gas appliances are designed - and are to be maintained - to handle interruptions of the gas supply, so rarely are there problems associated with the relights, Note that Utilities Kingston is not responsible for any costs associated with malfunctioning appliances.
