National Lineworker Appreciation Day is July 10
Lineworkers across Canada work hard to keep electricity flowing. They are highly trained people who work on installing and maintaining the complex hydro grid across cities, provinces, and territories. Often facing extreme weather events such as freezing rain, snowstorms, and heat waves, lineworkers are still on the job working safely and collaboratively to keep the lights on.
Electricity is the great enabler of modern society, powering our businesses, schools, homes, and the lifestyle to which we have grown accustomed. It is also vital for Canada’s transition to a more sustainable, clean growth economy.
Electricity Canada launched a National Lineworker Appreciation Day campaign on October 2, 2018. They dedicated this day to launching a petition for the government to recognize July 10 as National Lineworker Appreciation Day. July 10 marks the anniversary of the death of Henry Miller, founder and first president of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, in 1896.
On this day each year, we will continue to recognize and support Canadian lineworkers by celebrating National Lineworker Appreciation Day. Join us in thanking them for all they do!
