Join Us for Earth Hour on Sat. March 23, 2013

Kingston Hydro and Utilities Kingston encourage their customers to participate in Earth Hour on Saturday, March 23, 2013.

To take part, turn off your lights and otherwise reduce your electricity use at 8:30 p.m. to mark Earth Hour. Earth Hour is a World Wildlife Fund initiative and symbolic gesture that originated in Australia in 2007 and is now observed across the globe. It is designed to raise awareness of energy consumption and the human impact on climate change. Participants are encouraged to register at www.earthhour.org

Kingston Hydro customers can download energy savings coupons and make every hour Earth Hour. Coupons for lighting controls (i.e., dimmers and motion sensors), compact fluorescent light bulbs and power bars can be used in stores next month.

Kingston residents are invited to Springer Market Square on March 23 starting at 6:30 p.m. for the free Kingston Unplugged family event and concert, which is proudly sponsored by Kingston Hydro and Utilities Kingston. We will be there handing out energy saving coupons, so be sure to stop by our booth.

For those unplugging for Earth Hour, Kingston Fire and Rescue, offers a number of fire safety tips.
