Help Make Kingston an Energy Smart and Livable City!

Utilities Kingston is pleased to contribute to our community’s first energy plan. The plan, being developed over the next 18 months, is a local economic development instrument in the context of energy costs, energy services, energy generation, consumption, and innovative service delivery.

The Kingston community energy plan will consider long-term energy generation, consumption, infrastructure, economic growth and land-use planning – and will look at energy use in all sectors of our community: residential, commercial, industrial, institutional, municipal and transportation.

The final Kingston Community Energy Plan may include recommendations for capital projects, timelines and commitments to integrate smart energy recommendations into other relevant municipal planning instruments such as the Official Plan, strategic plans, community economic strategies and smart growth plans.

Understanding how, where and when energy is used in Kingston will help the community identify opportunities for energy-use programs focused on energy conservation, fuel switching, renewable energy generation or other smart energy-related efforts. We hope that through this process, our customers and stakeholders can help develop initiatives and practices that will help Utilities Kingston continue its province-leading achievements in energy and water conservation.
