Keeping fire hydrants clear of snow and ice helps provide access to fire fighters in case of emergency. Utilities Kingston maintains all 3,200 fire hydrants in the municipal water distribution system. Our crews are checking municipal streets to identify snow-blocked hydrants and then clear them.
Please help keep hydrants accessible for fire protection:
- Avoid piling or plowing snow up against fire hydrants
- If you see a snow blocked hydrant on your street, let us know by emailing info@utilitieskingston.com
- Is there a buried hydrant in front of your home? We appreciate citizens who take the time to clear snow and ice from hydrants
