Utilities Kingston customers can now order multiple rain barrels to help make every rain drop count.  You can order rain barrels by calling 613-546-0000, even if you purchased a barrel from Utilities Kingston earlier in the season.

The rain barrels are offered at cost to customers. The 1,000 rain barrels were made available starting March 17, 2014. Customers will be charged for rain barrels on their Utilities Kingston bills. The $42 price includes HST and delivery to the customer’s doorstep. Customers are welcome to purchase more than one barrel.

Rain barrels help protect the environment by reducing the amount of treated lake water used for watering plants and lawns, and diverting significant quantities of rainwater from the sewer system during storms. They help conserve energy by reducing the amount of water and wastewater that needs to be treated and pumped. Rain water contains minerals that makes it a healthier choice for plants than treated tap water. Finally, rain barrels save customers money by lowering monthly water consumption and reducing the volume of water that must be treated.
