Utilities Kingston has received inquiries from concerned residents regarding a gas smell in the King Street area. We confirm that crews are on scene of a gas hit on King Street, between Queen and Princess Streets, and have controlled the situation. Pedestrians and motorists are advised to avoid the area until further notice.

Crews are repairing the gas pipe and there are no major safety concerns. It is possible that heating and ventilation systems could bring gas into a building. If you smell gas inside, open all the windows to provide circulation.
