Ever turn on your tap water and wonder how it got there? Skilled operators and advanced technologies help provide safe drinking water, treat wastewater and protect the environment. A precious resource, tap water comes from lakes, rivers and ground water before being treated for public use. The distribution system is a large network of underground water pipes and state-of-the-art facilities, operated by experts in our community.

Please join us for free public tours of our local water and wastewater treatment facilities. Learn about the journey of tap water, how it gets to your family and what happens to it when it goes down the drain. Community groups are encouraged, and individuals and families are welcome too. Tours are booked on a demand basis. To arrange a tour, please call us at 613-546-0000 and say “Public Tours Utilities”.

To see an example of a facility that you can visit, please check our new web page about the Ravensview Wastewater Treatment Facility. This state-of-the-art facility takes in 60,000 cubic metres of raw sewage waste each day and transforms it to produce three beneficial outputs – water, electricity, and nutrients for farmers’ fields.

We look forward to seeing you soon!
