Every year, warmer weather increases demand on water systems, putting low reserves at risk and placing pressure on the system's ability to fight fires. For conservation and safety, Utilities Kingston sets watering restrictions to limit the use of water between June 15 to September 15.
By-Law No. 2006-122 provides regulation of water supply for the City of Kingston. Enforcement of prohibitions under this by-law are as follows:
- by penalty as provided in the Provincial Offences Act (denoted as Fine amount in the table below); or
- in accordance with the Administrative Penalty Process By-Law 2020-69 (denoted as Penalty amount in the table below).
