Water
We provide quality water to 39,000 homes and businesses. Our employees operate 3 water treatment plants, 586 kilometres of water main, 5,450 water valves, 5 booster stations, 9 water storage facilities and 3,569 fire hydrants. 22 billion litres of treated water was pumped through our system in the past year, similar to the year before.
We provide safe and reliable wastewater services to nearly 38,000 homes and businesses, while minimizing impact on the environment. Our employees maintain 511 kilometres of sewer main, 6,740 maintenance holes, 29 sewage pumping stations, 9 combined sewer overflow tanks, and 3 wastewater treatment plants.
We maintain a safe and reliable gas distribution system, serving 15,000 homes and businesses in central Kingston. Our employees maintain 260 kilometres of gas main, 231 kilometres of gas services, 1,438 mainline gas valves, and 9 gas pressure regulating stations. We delivered 90 million cubic metres of natural gas in 2020.
We provide asset management, billing and operational services to Kingston Hydro, which in turn is the Ontario Energy Board licensed distributor of electricity for 28,000 customers in central Kingston. Our employees service 5,206 poles, 1,813 transformers, 16 distribution substations, 670 underground structures, 101 kilometres of 5 kV underground cables, 179 kilometres of 5 kV overhead conductors, 7 km of 44 kV underground conductors, and 47 kilometres of 44 kV overhead conductors.
