Alfred Street and Elm Street Sanitary Sewer Reconstruction
Utilities Kingston intends to reconstruct the existing Alfred Street and Elm Street sanitary sewer. This work is identified as a required improvement by the 2017 Utilities Kingston Water and Wastewater Master Plan Updates Study, conducted with public input in accordance with the requirements of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment process using the Master Planning Approach #1.
A public open house took place on Wednesday, October 24, 2018, at the Memorial Centre Rotunda. Staff from the Utilities Kingston engineering department shared information on the work and answered questions from the public regarding the sanitary sewer construction on Princess, Alfred and Elm Streets.
Design and Construction
Utilities Kingston has awarded the construction contract to Len Corcoran Excavating. Properties in the immediate construction area were sent a letter prior to construction commencing identifying the contractor contact information and the start date for construction.
Reconstruction work for this project started in October 2018, with an anticipated completion date of June 20, 2019. Please note that these timeframes are only projected and are subject to change due to inclement weather conditions and unforeseen circumstances. All construction work will be strictly confined to the road right-of-way. There is no planned sewer or water servicing work.
