Sewer flushing and CCTV camera work

Sewer flushing and CCTV camera work

Each year, Utilities Kingston conducts a sewer cleaning and closed circuit television (CCTV) inspection project in order to help maintain the integrity of our sanitary sewer system. This year’s program is intended to run until November. Work will be completed by M.Cudd Infrastructure.

In 2021, the program will focus in the “Year 3” area, west of the Little Cataraqui Creek, primarily south of Bath Road. Homeowners within the work area will receive a minimum three-day advanced notice, hand-delivered or mailed by the contractor. The work involves cleaning the sewer by multiple passes of a high-pressured jet, and inspecting it by running a robotic CCTV camera through the sewer main.

The majority of work will not affect homeowners or cause any disruption to service. Homeowners within focused areas of flushing and CCTV camera work are asked to keep toilet lids closed when not being used and pour approximately two litres of water into basement floor drains.  This should reduce the chances of potential spillage, odours or noise generated by the work. Please visit the project page for further information.
