Upgrades at the River St. Sewage Pumping Station

Details:

Upgrades are planned at the River St. Sewage Pumping Station located at 8 River St. The purpose of the upgrades is to improve station operation as well as to reduce odour and corrosion issues in the downstream sewer.

The works will include:

  • Installation of a new screening system and modifications to the existing grit removal system.
  • Review and implementation of hydrogen peroxide injection for odour and corrosion control for the downstream sewer.
  • Building improvements including; exterior brickwork, replacement of windows and doors, necessary upgrades to building HVAC system.

The proposed project is being undertaken by Utilities Kingston, and is subject to the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment, 2007 (Class EA) planning process as it applies to municipal sewage projects. The upgrades at the River St. Sewage Pumping Station are being planned as a Schedule A+ Class EA activity and are pre-approved. Public notice of project implementation is being provided in accordance with Class EA requirements.
