Utilities Kingston to work with UTS Consultants on pole line collapse

Utilities Kingston has confirmed it’s working with industry experts UTS Consultants Inc. to conduct an investigation as to why hydro poles collapsed on John Counter Boulevard last Friday.

Jim Keech, president and CEO of Utilities Kingston says, “Our employees have done a lot of great work to preserve and document the evidence. Having an independent, third party conduct these investigations will give us the best possible information we need to ensure for continued public safety, which is our number one priority.”

The engineering firm was on site today to begin reviewing evidence. They are expected to test and model the poles, and review factors such as age and soil condition.

It is anticipated that the investigation will conclude in approximately two weeks. Utilities Kingston will issue a news release and updates on social media.

Did you witness the pole line collapse, or take photos or videos in the area around the noon hour on Friday (June 17)? Utilities Kingston is appealing to members of the public to email information to community@utilitieskingston.com. This may assist the investigation.
